Pastor Robert and Lois Johnson
 

 

Rev. Robert J. Johnson is the Senior Pastor of West Michigan Worship Center located in Muskegon Michigan. He formerly served as an Associate Pastor—focusing on the Young Adults, Teens, and Music Departments.   During his pastorate, he has become a sought after marriage counselor and has provided marriage counseling for hundreds of couples. Individuals outside of his congregation have been referred to him by other pastors from the community because of his effectiveness!                                                         

 

Rev. Johnson is a licensed and ordained minister with the Missionary Church Inc., whose headquarters are in Fort Wayne, IN.  He holds the distinction of being the first African-American pastor credentialed by the Missionary Church Inc. He has provided leadership on the Missionary Church Inc.’s, national General Board for a six-year term.

 

In addition, Rev. Johnson is an adjunct professor at the Muskegon Community College, providing instruction and guidance to students seeking employment and improving skills related to the same. 

 

‘Pastor Robert’, as he prefers to be called, is also an accomplished musician with several recordings to his credit. He has been a featured soloist in several international programs including World Vision, and has previously performed with noted musical artists such as Roy Clark, Glen Campbell, Pat Boone, The Osmond’s, Mini Pearl, and others.  His musicianship has allowed him to travel extensively throughout the world and perform as a regular on a nationally syndicated television program, “New Wine” during the 1990’s.

 

Rev. Johnson attended John Brown University and Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois, completed his undergraduate degree from the latter. He earned a Masters of Ministry Leadership degree from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary of Cornerstone University. 

 

His mother is Jeanne Johnson, Vice President of UCW—the lady with the flower in her hair! He currently resides in Muskegon Heights, Michigan, along with his wife of 25+ years, Loistine, daughters Olivia and Rachel, and grandchildren, Jalen and Serenity. 

 

 


  

Lois Johnson is the wife of Rev. Robert J. Johnson, Sr. Pastor of West Michigan Worship Center.  She is the mother of two children, (Rachel and Olivia) and two grandchildren.

 

Lois grew up in Chicago and as a youth was very active in church (West Lawn), and Circle-Y Ranch.  She refers to herself as a 'Circle-Y girl".

 

After graduation, she attended Trinity College and soon became engaged to Robert.  They were wed in 1976.

 

Lois continued her education in the field of early childhood, earning two degrees.  She taught in the Head Start program for over 25 years.  She pursued specialty training in 'High Scope' and became certified as a 'Trainer of Trainers'.


Today she remains active serving in her church along with her husband.  She leads the Worship Team, teaches Sunday school, and directs the children's summer camping program.    

 


 
KEYNOTE SPEAKER:  Rev. Geogia Hill
 

Georgia Hill is thankful for Gods grace and mercy in her life, for salvation in Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit.  Rev. Hill is the daughter of Mrs. Valentine Hill and the late Dr. George C. Hill and she is grateful for their prayers! She is sister to Janet Hill Talbert (husband Aaron) and Ellen Hill Zeringue (husband Anthony).

She serves as the Associate Pastor of Plymouth United Church of Christ and provides leadership for Youth and Adult Christian Education. She conducts a Saturday Morning Bible Study in addition to a monthly Womens Bible Study called “Tea and Time Together”. Rev. Hill serves as the leader of the Revelation Dance Ministry and hosts a morning telephone prayer line for women every Tuesday and Thursday at 7:00am. All women are welcome to call in {605-475-4800 Pin 761924#}. Prior to serving in the ministry, she practiced law for a number of years and worked in city government. Dr. Hill is an adjunct instructor at Wayne State University in the Africana Studies Department.

Rev. Hill serves on the Harper Hutzel Hospital Ethics Committee and she is a member of the Plymouth Housing Board.  Rev. Hill is also a member of the board of directors of Neighborhood Service Organization (NSO). Rev. Hill is pleased to offer a weekly Bible study to residents of the NSO Bell Building.

Rev. Hill earned a Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) from Harvard Radcliffe College in Cambridge Massachusetts, a Juris Doctor degree (J.D.) from Howard University Law School in Washington D.C., as well as a Master of Divinity degree (M.Div.) and a Doctor of Ministry degree (D. Min.) from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago.

Rev. Georgia Hill has traveled to Egypt, Syria and Israel for Biblical study and has participated in mission trips to South Africa, Tanzania, Mexico, Panama and Liberia; all in joyous service to God.


 

 

 
Honorable Shannon A. Holmes
 
 

Shannon A. Holmes is a native of Lake Charles, Louisiana.  She is a graduate of Dillard University and the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.  She has also earned a doctorate degree at the Ecumenical Theological Seminary of Detroit.

Shannon has had a distinguished career in public service.  She has served as a Federal Investigator with the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, where she investigated civil rights complaints and facilitated training for employers with respect to federal statutes that govern the employer-employee relationship.  

In 1999, Shannon joined the City of Detroit’s Law Department as an Assistant Corporation Counsel in its Labor and Employment Law Division.  While serving in this capacity, she represented the City of Detroit in civil litigation, labor arbitrations, police and fire trial board hearings, civil service hearings, Michigan Employment Relations Commission hearings, and contract negotiations.  She also served as the Legislative Assistant Corporation Counsel and represented the Law Department during Detroit City Council sessions. 

Shannon has served as the Chief of Staff to the Honorable Mayor Dave Bing and as Director of the City of Detroit’s Human Resources Department.  She has also served as an Administrative Law Judge with the City of Detroit Department of Administrative Hearings.  She is a former Officer with the Michigan National Guard Judge Advocate General Corps.

In 2011, Shannon was appointed to serve as a Judge in the State of Michigan 36th District Court.  In November 2014, she was elected to serve as a Judge by the residents of the City of Detroit.

Shannon is a member of Renaissance Baptist Church of Detroit where the Rev. Dr. Edwin H. Holmes serves as the senior pastor.  At Renaissance, Shannon serves as a member of the Ministerial Staff, Praise and Worship Leader, and Women’s Ministry Facilitator.  She is an ordained minister who is willing to serve where needed. 

Shannon is affiliated with several civic, community, religious and professional organizations including: Detroit Parent Network Board of Directors, The State Bar of Michigan, The Association of Black Judges of Michigan, The Wolverine Bar Association and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. 

Shannon has a God-given passion for ministering to all of God's people, especially women.  She is the co-founder of the annual Behind the Mask Women’s Conference, which is designed to minister to The Total Woman according to the Word of God.   Shannon is also the founder of the annual The Women Came First sunrise service, which is a City-wide service for women who dare to rise early on Resurrection morning to worship the risen King. 

Shannon is the wife of Rev. Dr. Edwin H. Holmes, a mother (Troy, Jordan and Joi Ivory), a mother-in-law (Autumn) and a grandmother (Aubrey and Jonathan).


 

 
Teachia Turrentine 
 
 

Teachia Turrentine faced circumstances in her teen and young adult life that were traumatic and devastating, which caused her to realize her need for a Savior.  She accepted Jesus and wholeheartedly embraced Him, and is now dedicated to live for Him.  Giving God the broken pieces of her life, has also given her a unique platform to help other young women.

She is currently a Certified Empowerment Coach who "helps women tap into, navigate through, and govern their 'internal words', in order to create their desired 'external realities'."  In other words, she helps women clarify their stated goals, identify and remove self-inflicted barriers that might hinder their efforts, and helps them to develop a realistic pathway to reaching their goals.  In short, the work she does can be summarized in a quote Teachia lives by:  "Change your thoughts, change your life."  She serves God not only through her profession, but in ministry at Vertical Encounter Church, where Gayle Brannan is pastor.  

Teachia participates in Praise Dance Ministry, Greetings Ministry, Prayer/Intercessor Ministry and, of course, Women's Empowerment Ministry.  She has also been a mentor and leader in several Detroit youth-focused endeavors.  Her personal desire is to travel the world empowering and restoring women.  

She has been married to Jeremy Turrentine for two years, and they have a great desire to be blessed of the Lord to become parents!

Tiffany Cartwright
 
 

Tiffany Cartwright is a native Detroiter who currently resides in West Bloomfield, Michigan. She is also the proud mother of two wonderful children, Taylor and Evan. She currently heads the Singles Ministry at Hartford Memorial Baptist Church in Detroit and has been involved in Singles ministry for the past 15 years.

Her professional career consists of serving as a judge in Michigan courts and providing private practice in probate law, such as wills, power of attorney, and personal representative.

She is also the founder of Praisercize: Totally Gospel Workout Video and provides the leadership for the aerobic workout sessions every year during UCW Conferences.
